I want to tell a story for the artists and would-be artists out there.
When I was 19, I sacrificed my physical and mental well-being for a personal video project of mine. I spent hours working, not stopping to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. Nothing could stop me. And when the program I was working in crashed and I lost two hours of meticulous work, I didn't give up. I kept going, cursing myself all the while for not saving more frequently, ignoring each and every warning from my body that this pace wasn't sustainable. I still carry the burden of that period of my life to this day in the form of occasional flare-ups of intense wrist pain.
The point is, with enough perseverance and flagrant disregard for one's own health, you too can achieve feats such as a Team Fortress 2 "i'm at soup" SFM shitpost that's currently sitting at less than 5000 views on youtube

Original Content (Week 6 Post 2)
data analysis - what did you learn about data analysis from the Module 4 data analysis practice project? how will that help you in module 5?
Through the data analysis practice project, I learned a lot about the data available on social media sites. Some sites offer more data than others and some data is much more insightful than others. While almost all social media sites offer a count of likes and comments, some sites provide a view count too. I did my practice project using an Instagram account - Instagram did not have a view count available. I am planning to do my big analysis project using YouTube which does offer a view count. I think this is a very valuable piece of data because it provides a scale for the like and comment count. For example, if a videos gets 100 likes and it only had 150 views, it performed well. On the other hand, a video with 100 likes and 5000 views is much less impressive.
In the bigger picture, this shows why context is critical when analyzing data. Finding a ratio of likes relative to views is a much better evaluation than either of those datapoints on their own.

The obstacles to starting a YouTube channel as a young creator in 2024
The journey of becoming a content creator has always been in my side pocket ever since I started YouTube, I just never got to become more consistent and dedicated to the process of editing, content creation, and more. I think there are plentiful obstacles in creating a youtube account for anything whether it's a family channel, vlogging/blogging, video games, music, art, travel, and much more, there are a variety of problems and humps to get over. I started YouTube by using video games as my content creation, especially the game Fortnite, people tended to doubt, make fun of, shade, and talk behind my back and everything during school, and even college as we speak. I have gone through many dark times in creating YouTube videos, with my own high school friends talking about it and saying it's "dumb" or a "waste of time" and even walking into my suitmates dorms and seeing them have my channel up and overhearing them talking about my channel and why I think it's a smart idea to start in college with everything going on. My goal is to inspire and spread positivity through my content and also who I am as a human being. I want to be a role model for young kids in this generation that they can look up to and depend on whether it's advice for life or for video games. As time has gone on and the weeks pass I have noticed a dramatic difference in time consumption when it comes to looking up new video ideas, new editing styles, and designs, and I catch myself trying to mimic other creators that I look up to and watch because I think taking after your inspirations are valued less in this world and it can help people out a lot, like myself. My personal brand story is full of ups but also downs I have been doubted with my channel, I have been made fun of and frowned upon, and even my own parents don't understand and believe the impact I can make or the benefit of what my channel can accomplish if I stay committed, motivated. and dedicated to the grind of content creation. Even through all the hate I look to my only audience, and that is Jesus Christ, my YouTube bio says "Audience of 1" and it reminds me that he has guided me to instill confidence in myself and the mindset that nobody's opinion matters but yourself. My channel only started about just over 4 months ago and I have gained extreme progress, better than I had ever imagined this early in my journey, but this only makes my fire bigger and shows me the opportunities that are ahead of me as long as I stay driven and motivated. My YouTube/Fortnite revenue is starting to gain more traction as I gain more subscribers and views, I stay humble through this whole process and understand that I only want to impress the man above. the biggest obstacle in this journey for me is the views. People get so stuck up on views, money, attractions, etc. Early in my YouTube, I caught myself being too attentive to the views and deleting my videos and re-uploading hoping for the views that I was expecting myself to get, and it caused lots of stress mentally because I thought it wasn't going to work out. As I continue to grow in my YouTube journey I understand the value of 100 views and 5000 views, both are important and valued and I am humble enough to be proud of any video that is uploaded to my channel. This is just the start and the future brings many opportunities!

Day 44 of Building Elsa’s Ice Palace
Ok so. I did the math.
Basically I had to make a choice of where to put my money. I had $6000 saved up for that house deposit that I ended up not using, and I had to decide to use that toward another house (or apartment building), or put it into the stock market.
According to the math, I have a chance for quicker, larger returns in the stock market.
This is also laziness lol. I takes less physical work to invest in the stock market than it does the house market. But I don’t want people reading this blog thinking it’s just easy money. You have to figure out what your goals are and then research. In my case, I watched a lot of youtube videos and read the comments to see what other people are doing too.
Here’s my strategy: go for the high yielding dividend stocks, which are also the highest risk. They’re not great for long term, but they do help me finance my short term goals. The more dividends I have now, the more I can reinvest those into other stocks, thus growing or “compounding” my money much quicker than if I were just looking at income.
This is my short term strategy, and would not necessarily be sustainable long term- especially with risky investments- but my goal is specifically to get high, quick returns in order to pour those into reliable income. I’ll put about $5000 into each of the stocks I’ve picked out, all from different sectors, that way I can have a little bit of income from each industry, and if one or a few industries go bad (like during a recession) others can still get me some money.
Since I had $6000 saved up, I was originally going to just pour $5000 into my first stock, then the remained $1000 into the next, like going through a checklist.
But I freaked out, and decided to split it lol. I don’t like throwing all my eggs into one basket, so I had to split it about four ways. $2000 in one, $2000 in another, and the remaining $2000 between two others. I don’t want to dox myself so I won’t say which ones, but they are all high yielding dividend stocks. I’ll pay attention this next month to see when the pay outs are, then put them on my schedule. That way I can start planning when to reinvest the dividends.
Otherwise, this makes me excited! :D I feel all official and stuff. Arendelle was all about trade, so this is kinda the same thing, right? Yeah, totally. If I’m gonna be a real life Elsa, I’m gonna have to get rich!
Also, my last youtube video did pretty good! 450 views! For a beginner I think that’s really good! I’m gonna try to make another video later and hope it does well too. I’m actually kinda having fun with these!

Malborough Palace.
The Palace built in the 1733 by the command of Fredrick V when he moved the Capital from Thriteria to Calibria. He purchased the Malborough Hill from his cousin The Duke of Malborough. Fredrick himself was an architect. So he work closely with Simparthian famous architect Leonardo De Santini in designing the Palace.
It took almost 8 years to complete the building. At the time of complition the palace was the most expensive building in Simparthia. It cost about SKR 100 Million (more or less 350 Million Euro now) to build and decorate all 700 rooms.
All rooms in the Palace is decorated with gold paneling, ivory and fine Italian Marble. There are more than 5000 chandelier imported from Italy to fill the Palace. The Palace is unique because it sit on a hill rather than in the city center. Offering a magnificent view to the city of Calibria.
The most famous balcony in Simparthia is also the balcony of Malborough Palace. Every year the King and Queen will appear on the Balcony during special celebrations, where hundreds of thousands Simparthian eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of their monarch.
Since 1950, The State Rooms of the Palace is open to public every Summer for 2 months, so people can visit and see for themself the magnificent interior of Malborough House.
Today, Queen Josephine II and her family lived in the Royal Apartment, somewhere inside this grand palace.

How good are Paul and Richard as guitarists? I love how they play for different reasons but from a technical and also your personal perspective how are they?
There are two answers to this. I am sorry this ran away with me worse than the album cover one.
1. ... not that great. Like technically, most of that is pretty basic, fingering wise and harmony wise. I mean, I couldn’t do it, most couldn’t do it, because I don’t play guitar, but from a guitarist’s perspective? There’s like ... 5000 little kids on youtube that shred more difficult stuff. They even say that themselves though, that that’s not what they are trying to do. There are a number of Paul quotes that I am too lazy to dig up on how he’s not a shredder like Yngwie Malmsteen and that’s not what he’s trying to do in a manner that makes me think he doesn’t like Yngwie, which, I get because Yngwie is a pretentious prick who thinks playing pagagnini on a guitar is impressive - which from a classical or jazz guitarists (who are even more insane just withbthe complexity of the stuff they play then rock/metal shredders) or a violinist point of view it isn’t. I digress, sorry.
Then you have Richard saying that Hotei was too fast for him, which, there’s plenty guitarists that are faster than Hotei, or how he prefers an impactful AC/DC riff over endless soloing which is the only correct opinion, thank you for being reasonable honey.
That being said ... I know someone who can probably hold a candle to Yngwie or someone like Guthrie Govan, and he admitted to me, in person, that he tried to play along to Rammstein and can’t do it. I have heard other guitarists say the same - Which ... brings us to the second answer.
2. The’yre pretty insane at what they do. Ask any musician and if they’re not lying arrogant pricks with a naturally insane feel for rythm, they’ll tell you that holding a monotonous, repetitive steady rythm over a long period of time is really fucking hard. It takes alot of stamina, it’s exhausting, and it’s just difficult, the longer you have to hold it, the more difficult it gets. They are very precise and very enduring. There is this bit in the Amerika documentary where I think someone from Limp Bizkit says how they’re not only heavy, they almost sound military, and that is exactly that. Like, take Asche zu Asche, that’s basically powerchords and simple fingerings, but I dare you to find someone on youtube that plays it in that same steadiness without losing groove.
The sound secret of Rammstein is the use of alot less syncopation (that’s, grossly simlplified, (dear music theorists please don’t bust my ass I know ok) the stretch of one note and the shortening of the next, or the other way around. Think Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta vs. Ta-Taa-Ta-Taa. They mainly maintain the groove just by playing behind the beat, so you have the guitars clocking in slightly behind let’s say the kick drum, and that’s how it get’s that drive. When Paul says “we’re german, we clap on one” he refers to that very streamlined, unorganic understanding of rythm and that’s just not that easy to do on an instrument. EBM does it of course, but they go through a huge hassle to make their machines have a “funk” and make it sound less that way and uhm. Digressing again.
I’m gonna blow all the bits and pieces that I started to collect for my in defense of Los essay here but tbh I was way too lazy to ever write that, so here we go, because Los is such a good exemple. Like musically, that is a very standard blues riff. But they play it in the less obviously syncopated and hyphenated way so that, while still being completely recognisable as a standard blues riff, it is also completely Rammstein. Which is what makes this song so wonderful and so wonderfully underrated, because people go “meh it’s just a boring old blues song” and completely miss the point about how they took some of the music they undoubtedly grew up on, and just ... made it Rammstein. It completely illustrates what they are soundwise, eapecially with stripping all else like the dual rectifiers and the EMG pick ups away and it’s bare bones who they are, which no, is not the effects or distortion levels, it’s their rythm treatment. people don’t get it and it makes me a little mad. Because it’s that what sets them apart from the rest of the industrial metal crowd, they still have a very basic rock n roll root in there somewhere (sorry Richard but you do), and it’s ... they’re just really cool and now I am gushing, oops, sorry. I’m just saying, the AC/DC and Alice Cooper and the origins of that music is still in there.
I’ve been on a few music forums over the years and talked to people and the “what makes a really good guitarist” is so widely and passionately debated, but I think ultimately people will (albeit begrudgingly) admit that the greatest guitarists of all times are the ones that made something new with their instrument. That’s what legends are made of. It’s why people now say the electric guitar is dead, because everything has been done with it (I don’t agree with that but i digress AGAIN). Think coming up with new effects and ways to play, like Hendrix or Jimmy Page, or new ways to treat rythm like Keith Richards or Angus Young ... or Paul and Richard. Speaking of Angus, AC/DC get the same rep of being “easy to play” but when people try to keep up they can’t for stamina and missing precision reasons.
There is something to be said about Richard as a writer in his own right, because it’s very recognisable. I don’t get how people say that Emigrate sounds so different to Rammstein because I don’t think it does, not harmonically. It’s a pretty clear handwriting. I’m not well versed enough in harmony and modes and all that to be able to tell what makes a Richard riff a Richard riff, but I am 95% certain there is a pattern.
Paul is harder to gauge because he doesn’t release his own stuff and Feeling B doesn’t count because musically that’s - how did we say, contemporary experimental noise making. Or maybe I just haven’t listened to it enough to catch a pattern.
So uhm. Time for TL;DR:
Technically pretty basic, almost impossible to beat on their own turf even by non basic players, innovative.

The Freedom of Expression Ep 26 - German virus transmission experiment.
K: This is Dir en grey's Kaoru, with this episode of The Freedom of Expression. Joe san, Tasai san, welcome.
T: Kaoru san?
K: Hm?
T: I thought we could invite a guest today.
K: Ahhh?
T: So, should we call him?
J: Who is it?
T: Who do you think it is? Someone with a connection to this show.
K: One of those two..
J: Yeh, one of them.
T: Here you are..*hands phone over*
Caller: Hello
J: Hello.Who is it?
Caller: Its Dobashi.
K: Is it Bishbash san?
J: Bishbash Dobashi san.
Caller/Dobashi: The people watching this on Youtube will be a bit afraid, thinking 'Who is this guy??'
J: No, the core fans will know you.
D: Will they? Am I ok?
J: We've heard from Tasai san that you've moved up in the world at Tokyo Sports?
D: No way, Im just in the middle management.
K: No, no, no, only someone important could say that.
J: He's superior, thats right. Its always that pattern, right?
D: I can't really come to see you anymore, Im sorry about that.
J: Where are you going out for entertainment?
K, D: Haha
J: You're pretending to be busy, according to Tasai san, you are making full use of company funds to have fun.
D: What are you talking about?? During the corona crisis I've been stuck at home all the time.
K: Even though the Olympics won't happen, you've been using the Olympics as an excuse to run around all over Japan.
J: Yeh yeh yeh yeh.
D: Well, because its been postponed, right?
J: You don't need to hurry if its been postponed though, do you? As the Olympics reporter?
K: He's pretty stuck now.
D: Since the Olympics have been postponed, I've kinda been distanced from that role though.
J: Oh really?
T: Oh, I see.
J: Eh? Whats your job now? What are you covering now?
D: What am I covering?
J: You don't know? haha.
K: Well, no, he's become more senior...
J: Oh, yeah.
K: So maybe he won't be sent out places and stuff.
D: If I'm forced to say it, I'm probably the spiritual reporter.
K: Ehh?
T: Oh, yeah.
D: From psychics to fortunes, haha.
T: The whole of Tokyo Sports' spiritual corner is done by one person.
K: Like..give us some stories! haha.
D: I'll bring the fortune teller and psychic who Tokyo Sports recommends to see you some time.
J: Really?
D: We'll get Kaoru's fortune read.
J: Oh, lets do it!
K: Sounds good, haha.
D:  And Joe san's.
J: Oh yes, yes please!
T: I bet Joe is probably possessed by lots of girl's spirits.
J: No, I wanna know my fortune, about whether or not I'll be able to get re-married by age 55.
T: Ahh.
D: Really?
Kami: Thats impossible.
J: Impossible? Kami!
K: He appeared all of a sudden.
D: Ohh, yeah. I see.
J: Couldn't you hear Kami's voice? No?
D: Ah, Kami?
Kami: Kami heeere!
K: Kami's voice..
T: He's here.
Kami: Its Kami heere!
T: He's saying, 'Kami's heere'
Kami: Kami heeere.
K: I don't think he can hear.
J: Yeah, he can't hear. One system can't hear the other.
D: I can't hear.
T: Kami was saying in a very affable voice, 'Kami heere!'
D: Hahaha. Well, hi.
K: Hahaha
Kami: Hello.
K: Its been a while since back then, right?
J: Yep.
T: *To Dobashi* Thank you very much.
D: Yes, thank you so much!
T, J: Sorry to disturb you. *End phone call*
J: Ahh, its been a while since we spoke to Bishbash Dobashi san.
K: He seemed a bit troubled, right?
J: He did. It might be because it was difficult to communicate. But if he brings that fortune teller sometime on this show, that will be fun.
T: Will that be ok?
J: Yeah, I really wanna see it! How about you, Kaoru? Do you?
K: Yes
J: Lets do it together.
T: It is incredible. That guy seems to get it right. Its kinda scary. Dobashi saw him once, and he said he purified him.
J:Eh??
K: Oh really?
J: Was Dobashi possessed by something?
T: Well, at that time, he was going through a lot of trouble in his life, but after that..
J: Everything got better? He improved?
T: Yes, eventually.
J: Oh, lets get this guy to do us.
T: Hiranabe was also seen by him.
J: Ehh?
T: After that Hiranabe got promoted to Director.
J: Director, right?
K: Let's have today's news please Joe.
J: Yes, I'll get it started. Well, for us who are looking forward to live shows, this is some big news towards possibly re-starting them. 'Looking for 4200 test volunteers' - An experiment in virus transmission in Germany.
A group of German scientists are currently planning the project 'Re-Start 19' to find out how Covid-19 spreads in stadium environments. They aim to gather quantitative data to find out how best to restart concerts, as the current outlook for the music word doesn't look favourable. As for the project, they plan to carry it out in Leipzig Stadium, and are looking for 4200 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 50. After getting all 4200 volunteers into the statdium, a singer will perform, and they will test things like how far saliva sprays out etc. All participants must test negative for the virus two days before the experiment, and once in the venue, they must wear masks and use hand alcohol. The alcohol will contain a fluorescent substance to make it possible to see the areas where people often touch, and a smoke machine will be used to specify the spread of the virus through the air.  So, this will take place on the 22nd of August, and the researchers will announce the results before October. While some reduced scale contcerts are beginning to restart, there are high hopes that this study will produce effective data. There arent any big experiments happening like this in Japan, are they?
K: Well, yeh, because you have to use actual people in the experiment
J: Yeh
K: They'd want them to catch the disease, right?
J: Well, they are trying to see where people touch, or how far saliva sprays and stuff, so they are trying to create a simulation, using these nearly 5000 people.
T: It does come with a risk.
J: If there is an infected person there, it is possible that an outbreak might occur, but if you just make armchair guesses like, 'Oh maybe its this, maybe its that', and put on live shows with incomplete counter-measures....But if you do it properly like this, and find out how exactly an outbreak spreads in this kind if group situation, you can use that data and take appropriate counter-measures. Not emotional counter-measures, but doing it properly and  thoroughly. You could say its a very German approach. What do you think, Kaoru?
K: Hmm, yeah. Well, they are looking for people to take part, right?
J: Yeah, I wonder how that will go. It says they are currently appealing for people.
T: Volunteers, right?
J: Yeah.
K: And they must test negative two days before the experiment, but that means on the day of the experiment, there could be people who've caught it within two days.
J: Yeah, there could be. It is certainly not a zero risk situation.
K: They are recruiting people with the warning that there is a risk of becoming infected, right?
J: Well, probably, yeah.
K: If 4200 people gather in one place?
J: Yeh. They are tested two days previously, but on the day, there must be...Well, they will probable test peoples' temperatures as they arrive. But there is the possibility it gets missed. I mean, to the German people, it might be less of a case of whether thats good or bad, and more of a conclusion that its more dangerous to go ahead without gathering the proper data first. If they tried to do this experiment in Japan, it would get quite a lot of criticism, I think.
K, T: Definitely.
J: I don't know quite why that is. Maybe in Germany they have a different relationship with music, or maybe if they say, 'Lets get going!', they have to make sure they do this kind of thing first. Well, I don't know whether they'll actually be able to gather 4200 people, but they'll probably get close. They'll be forgiven for the experiment.
K: Who is funding this? The state?
J: Well, its a group of scientists, I don't know as far as whether the state will fund it, but it seems like the main focus is on these scientists. So if there was no scientific rationale for this type if live performance to go ahead..
K: Nothing will happen, right?
J: Right. Rather than having some emotionally  charged reason, like 'Now is the right time!' or , 'This is the best way!' or something, if you could set a kinda of standard using the results if this experiment, you could have some kind of criteria. Its gives a sense of security to both the performers, and the audience.
T: Tim Bendzko san
J: Bendzko san..what type of artist it he?
T: Well he's a pop singer. The conditions of the participants are, like you said Joe, testing the effects of socially distanced seating, or not.*1
Y: Yeh, yeh.
Kami: Umm...
J: Yes?
Kami: Even if they release the results to show how covid spreads or doesn't spread, in the end, if people are scared of covid they won't gather at these kind of places, but people who think covid is no big deal will gather, right?
J: Well, at first, yeah. Some people on the viewing side may be worried or scared, and end up not going.
Kami: For people who are worried about getting infected, even if there is just a small risk, they probably won't go, will they? They might go if you tell them, 'We know the transmission routes, and we have proof that you definitely won't be infected', but if you say, 'We mostly understand it, and you probably won't be infected', some people probably won't go, they will be afraid if getting sick. So even if you put a lot of effort in, and announce the results, will it be enough?
K: Well, I reckon this kind of thing will steadily keep improving.
J: Rather than happening all at once...
K: Yeah, not like that, they'll just have to keep trying to weaken peoples' fears bit by bit. But rather than doing nothing, I think this experiment will help towards moving forward a little.
J: Well, whatever you deal with, its never all or nothing. Within this process, if some people or scenes can be saved, it'll be one more thing to be relieved about. I think this problem relating to covid and live shows won't be quickly solved, even if we get a vaccine. But doing this one thing, Im repeating what you said Kaoru, but it will be important as a pointer in the direction of relief.
K: Yeah, but not only for live shows, I also want them to do it for daily life, like in the train and stuff. If we don't, then we won't be able to do anything.
T: If its made more visible, people would feel calmer about it. Like, if you know where the danger is, you won't go there, right? Avoid the pit holes.
J: Yes, thats right. Seeing those facts... well, isn't this experiment predicated to cost 100 million yen, right? I don't know if that will be funded by the government, or whether the researchers themselves will gather the money, but the very fact that there are scientists working to restart live shows, must be a source of hope for German artists. Well, so for the time being in Germany, they are appealing for healthy volunteers age 18 to 50 to take part in this experiment on transmission at live shows.
K: It will happen quite soon, right? On the 22nd? Just a little bit after this is broadcast? A few weeks after?
J: Yeah. And then the results will be announced in October, so around that time, we could talk about the results here.
T: Its data that a lot of people in the Japanese music business will want to know.
J: I think so.
K: Ok, well, let's end here. Please subscribe. Thank you very much.

[i am uk based so will be talking about uk products]
a cage or enclosure for your hamster is by far the most important choice you’re going to make for your new pet and also the place where a large amount of people go very wrong!
S I Z E
the bigger the better! if you have the space and money, please go for the largest size cage you can for your hamster.
the absolute minimum cage size i would recommend for all hamster species is 650 square inches, but please aim for bigger!
my syrian lives in a detolf, coming in at approximately 950 square inches, and having kept a syrian in that size cage, could not imagine keeping one anywhere smaller. and so around 1000 square inches is definitely my personal minimum.
I M P O R T A N T  F E A T U R E S
as big a floorspace as possible. height, levels and external tubes are NOT a replacement for continuous floorspace.
hamsters are not climbing animals and excessive height and levels are actually dangerous. when adding platforms to a cage you should always ensure the height is not excessive and there are other items to reduce the height of the drop.
cages with tubes are useless at best and dangerous at worst. the tubes are too small for syrians and bend at extreme angles causing damage to hamsters’ spines. the ventilation is also very poor in them and hamsters often choose to nest in them meaning food, pee and breathing hamster all stuck in a very small plastic non-breathable tube.
a cage should always provide a big enough base or enough height to add an appropriate amount of bedding aka at least 15cm. a barred cage with too shallow a tray or a tank style cage without enough height for 15cm of bedding plus a 30cm wheel (for example) are not suitable.
safe and well ventilated. bars should be narrowly spaced, lids and openings should be secure, there should be enough ventilation in tank style or diy cages
B A R R E D  C A G E S
a limited number of appropriately sized barred cages do exist to buy in the uk, with a few even available in chain pet shops e.g. the savic plaza hamster and rat cage (not suitable for rats though), available at pets at home (50cm x 100cm x 50cm). there are also quite a few available to order online on zooplus.
positives
good access to your hamster, with large front opening doors particularly useful
easy to attach and use hanging toys
well ventilated
negatives
limits on bedding depth (the cages i recommend still allow for approx 16/17cm)
from what i read, it seems appropriate sized barred cages are a rarity in the usa, especially without modification, so this is definitely european focused and most the decent sized barred cages i see are available on zooplus.
T A N K  S T Y L E  C A G E S
fish tanks are a straightforward option but can be very expensive in the uk when bought new in an appropriate size. they can be found much cheaper secondhand on sites like preloved and ebay, especially if they have a problem holding water which wouldn’t be a problem for us.
companies such as junglepets do sell tanks specially designed for small animals, they also provide a customisation service and will make tanks to your own preferred dimensions
some tank style cages are also sold as hamster cages by pet suppliers such as zooplus
the ikea detolf is also a popular tank style option and the cage i myself currently use so i am happy to answer any questions about using it. it does require some diy to make it useable for hamsters and it has some limitations but is the cheapest way of getting such a large cage.
positives
allow you to provide very deep bedding providing enough room for even syrians to burrow
more aesthetically pleasing and give a great view of your hamster, especially burrowing. buried tunnels and chambers can also be fun to experiment with.
very easy to change layout and an infinite amount of options on how to use the space
glass is more escape proof if you have a houdini especially a hamster who chews plastic trays of barred cages
negatives
more difficult to attach water bottles/platforms/hanging toys
only have access to your hamster from above which can make taming more difficult so i recommend the hamster is moved to a more accessible area for taming
less well ventilated than a barred cage, ideally the lid should be almost entirely mesh to allow maximum ventilation
can be heavy and difficult to move
D I Y  C A G E S
bin cages made from modified storage boxes are the most commonly found diy cage and have become a popular option for people trying to cheaply upgrade an inappropriate cage. a bin of a good size and depth, especially for a syrian, is very hard to find in the uk and the ones that are are much more expensive than you would think. while they still can be a good option, especially in countries with limited options, i personally think there are better and easier options in the uk
there is obviously an infinite amount of possibilities for diy cages! if you are very handy or have a handy friend or relative who would like to help you, a made from scratch diy cage could be the best possible option! it can be made as big as you like and have all the features you want! be sure to check what materials (e.g. wood or glue) is safe for use with hamsters
C A G E  C H E C K L I S T
✔ meets minimum size requirements (using internal measurements) ✔  if barred, bar spacing of < 1 cm for syrians ranging to < 8mm for robos ✔  has enough depth to add a suitable amount of substrate (15cm) ✔  has enough height for a suitable wheel ✔  allows sufficient ventilation ✔ if not provided with the cage, a lid that prevents escape
U N S U I T A B L E   C A G E S

S U I T A B L E   O P T I O N S
(i have tried to provide internal dimensions where possible)
detolf (roughly 950 sq inches / 6080 sq cms) ⇨ what i currently use so will answer any questions i can! :) ⇨ a really good size, especially for dwarves! ⇨ relatively inexpensive option (currently £60) ⇨ have to make a lid ⇨ limited height (about 35cms), only just fits a 30cm wheel with no substrate underneath so you have to plan the space carefully ⇨ available from ikea
living world eco habitat ⇨ available in medium (890 sq inches / 5760 sq cms) and large (1440 sq inches / 9300 sq cms) ⇨ quite expensive (£140-£200) ⇨ great sizes, especially the large. the large is the only cage ive seen that i would personally consider upgrading to. ⇨ ready prepared cage thats quick and easy to assemble but some modifications might be needed such as meshing the ventilation holes in the lid ⇨ easy to transport with wheels on the base ⇨ mainly made of wood including the base, may be a problem with chewers or with liquid reaching the base. they sell liners especially designed for use with the cage but other options could be used. with enough bedding and toys syrians will likely be able to reach the lid and could chew that also. airholes in the sides of the cage may also be a problem with chewers. ⇨ available from zooplus (uk)
barney (779 sq inches / 5050 sq cms) ⇨ not too expensive (£60-£70) ⇨ narrow 7mm bar spacing, good for dwarves ⇨ 16cm tray ⇨ some decent wooden accessories included ⇨ available from zooplus (uk)
alexander (820 sq inches / 5250 sq cms) ⇨ similar to barney but bit more expensive (around £80) ⇨ 17cm tray ⇨ a lot of wooden accessories and platforms included, including three houses of suitable sizes for a syrian ⇨ available from zooplus (uk)
savic plaza (780 sq inches / 5000 sq cm) ⇨ the only good option ive found available from a large chain pet shop in the uk ⇨ medium price range (£75) ⇨ comes with accessories but unfortunately most are unsuitable (the wheel and house are both too small, the platform and ramp are both not of great quality and would be best replaced) ⇨ 16cm tall base so allows an okay depth of bedding if completely filled ⇨ large front opening door so great access to your hamster ⇨ available from pets at home (uk)
plus large fishtanks and diy cages!
(this post obviously doesnt cover all suitable cages i just covered a selection of a few im most familiar with! and of course always do your own research from various sources (e.g. forums, youtube, tumblr) and gather opinions before reaching a decision for yourself!)

Five Quick Ways To Make $5000 per Month in 2022 | by Kamran Karim | The Capital | Jul, 2022

We tend to see time in 12-month increments, although $5,000 may be earned in as little as six months. By putting in a few more hours every week, you can finish it in less than a year, or even sooner if you put in more…

How I Saved $10000 in 10 Months
I’m not a saver by birth. I like to spend money. I view money as only one type of currency, not the most valuable one. Time comes first in the ranks, followed by energy, and then comes money. Money is not and has never been particularly valuable to me. It rarely ever brought me happiness but I was convinced while growing up that my net worth was a reflection of my self worth.
I never liked the idea of being frugal. I didn’t enjoy having to go without to prepare for a future emergency. For the last three years I have made a pretty consistent yearly amount through tutoring, babysitting, administrative tasks, and other similar odd jobs. But, I lived like I made a lot more. I wasn’t spending on luxuries and going out. I was just spending more than I had on things that I needed, or seemed to need. I became increasingly worried about not having enough money.
The fear of not having enough money, instilled into me at such a young age added to this terror churning inside me. I went to bed and woke up in frenzy of overwhelming nausea and tears.
But one day, after a particularly bad incident with a client, I decided that enough was enough. This particular client generously offered to pay my semester tuition in full in exchange for unlimited tutoring. Eternally grateful, I accepted. This client proceeded to give me the run around for four weeks and on the final day, had me drive over 30 miles from town to town chasing her for the check. After a grueling three hours, she called to let me know that she was in the hospital and her husband never agreed to give me the money.
I was embarrassed, humiliated, exhausted, spent, and so ashamed of myself for letting this person take advantage of me and exploit my needs. It was in that moment that I decided to stop letting money have any hold on me whatsoever. I was going to manage my money; it was not going to manage me.
I joined Frugal Families on Facebook and gathered several books to help me. I read Ana Newell Jones, Amy Dacyzyn, and Dave Ramsey among countless others. (I don’t necessarily recommend this but I like to read so it was a win win) You can get similar information by watching Youtube videos or short articles.
Through all my collectives, I found that managing finances and saving money comes down to a pretty simple idea: don’t spend money. But, my problem, along with many people, isn’t that I didn’t know HOW to save money, but that I couldn’t convince myself of WHY.
My thinking of money was all screwed up! I associated saving with withholding, going without, deprivation, dependence, poverty, and unhappiness. I held money in the top tier of my self esteem and felt that I needed it to prove to people that they should respect me. Putting $1000 in the bank and not touching it is infinitely easier than learning to love yourself if you don’t already. Once your self esteem has been tied into how much money you spend, its a tough knot to untangle.
So, I took these baby steps ( to all my Dave Ramsey fans out there). It took me a couple months to compile all these steps and even longer to start to truly follow all of them. I am 23 years old, I make about 24K a year, I am a part time college student, and I don’t have any kids or dependents. A lot of people may be discouraged from reading this article because maybe I don’t fit their demographic, make more or less, have fewer expenses or some other excuse. They may be right. I don’t know how well these steps may work for other people and I definitely cannot guarantee any results. It’s just a look into my own experience. But, if you want to break the ball and chain of money has around your ankle or maybe even save up $10000, grab a notebook and at least give this a try!
1.
Remove people from your life that you feel value money too much. These people are easy to identify: who in your life do you feel judges you the most? Limit contact with these people for a set period of time (maybe forever), or just until you save $10000. These people breed thoughts of inadequacy and manipulate us into spending money we don't need and becoming people we don't want to be, i.e. a woman in the Tightwad Gazette who admitted that she spent more money on her wealthy nephew’s Christmas presents than her own children.
2.
Write down your goals, hopes and dreams (not financial goals). What kind of person are you now and what do you hope will change after you become financially stable? Where do you see yourself in ten years? What would you do if you had a million dollars? What are some things about your life that you wish you could change? Why can’t you? What are aspects of life that you are grateful for? What is your dream career? What are some of your insecurities and fears? Ask yourself all these questions and any more you can think of. This should be a private journal entry that you can look back to so, be as open as you can for yourself.
3.
Write down your financial goals. How much money do you want to save? My goal was $20,000.
4.
Analyze your spending. Print out the last few months of your bank statements. Make a list. In and out. What went into the bank account and what went out. This is on the bottom of every monthly statement.
5.
Categorize all the items that went “out”. I use a pretty simple system for this: necessary and not necessary. Rent, car payments, gas, and doctors are needs. Mcdonald’s, make up, even buying books instead of borrowing them are not necessary. Be careful not to categorize non necessities as “wants”. This implies a careless decision was made and that we should feel bad or embarrassed about it. Our money is ours and we may choose to spend it however we wish. Remember that we want to feel more confident in our decisions through this process.
6.
Evaluate your needs list. Obviously rent and car payments can’t be negotiated down but if all your needs eat up more than half your income, see if anything can change. In my personal example, I had a car payment of $198/month. During the summer months, when babysitting jobs were scarce, I only made about $900/month. Coupled with rent, I had $100 left over every month to survive on. The solution was not easy, short term, or inexpensive. I had to buy a used car and get rid of my lease, find another side gig for the summer, or find a cheaper place to stay.
7.
Evaluate your non necessities list.Create a category for every expense (eating out, crafts, shopping, subscriptions) and then prioritize them in order of used. If you spent $300 this month on books, it goes to the top of the list. Next, think about what you could and couldnt live without. Put those in order too. Note: this does not mean cutting everything out. Think about what is important to you and what can change. Just because something isnt a basic need, does not mean it is not important. For me, going out with friends, and a small budget to grab some fast food if I was still hungry after lunch meant a lot. So those went to the top of my list.
8.
For future reference, I recommend using a debit card as cash to be able to track all your purchases. So this baby step is get a debit card at a bank that is near you with a safe and convenient ATM. Commit to putting cash onto the card in small amounts to avoid temptation, but often, like once a week. I never keep more than $50 available on my debit card at any time. I have worked my weekly amount down to just $15, just enough to eat out twice a week.
9.
PAY DAY. If you are like me and don’t have a regular deposit schedule, make one and keep to it. Be flexible about how often and how much you want to see your money grow. I tried a bi-weekly deposit schedule but learned that I prefer looking at how much I made at the end of the week. So, I deposit money into my account every Friday.
10.
You have money, now what do you do with it?? Consult your needs list and put aside the amount that you cannot change this month. Pay your bills immediately.
11.
What is left over? Budget your non-necessities and leave that in your account. Take whatever is left and shove it into your savings account.
12.
Reconsider your budget. This is the part when you slowly trick your brain into enjoying frugality. Remember that amount that you shoved into savings? No you don’t! Next month, create your budget without that chunk of savings, so immediately after payday, shove it into your savings account after bills and before non-necessities. Don’t be discouraged if you have to touch your savings account because you went over budget. Just try to average out the same amount for 3-4 months. Also, even $5 is a hefty deposit amount if you’ve been picking away at your account for the past 6 months. Be proud of yourself for any and all progress!
This last step was very helpful to me because it helped me become more and more creative about how to live on less. I learned to prioritize my hobbies, treated myself sparingly, and invest time I had in place of money I didn’t have. Overall, I became much happier than I was.
Another tip, I’d like to include is to be kinder to yourself. In hindsight it is easy to look at my expenses and realize I could’ve put a little more away here and there but I have no regrets about the mistakes I have made. Step 4 was arguably the hardest thing I’ve had to do in my life; analyze my mistakes and have compassion for myself. Even going forward, the continued slip ups I had taught me more about myself and helped me to make better decisions the next time.
I know this article seemingly boils down to taking a portion of your income and putting it into a savings account. But quite honestly, it has nothing to do with money. I have calculated that I could have put an extra $5000 away in the last ten months if I had really stuck to my needs, but that wasn’t the point. I wanted to live a life without the fear of money: not having enough, always wanting more. I was afraid to check my bank balance and I couldn’t resist a great sale that added to my net worth. Since I started my journey to financial stability, I don’t worry as much about what I have. That isn’t because I have a lot, but because I always know exactly what I had and I am confident about my ability to work with it.  It shifted my mentality of depending on money to take care of me to realizing that only I am responsible and capable of taking care of myself and money is just one of many tools that can help me. Break the chain!
